The Workshop Cafe

Whilst in Belgium, I went out with my sister and her colleagues and fellow designers from Evolutionland. Trust a group of designers to go off to a trendy place for lunch – hey we care about design, what can I say? And it sure as hell beats staring at a menu in horror and being unable to choose what to eat because I’m so distracted by a horrendous typography. The Workshop Cafe proved to be really fun and modern. I loved their jumble of font types, colour, weight and composition. It looks effortless and tasteful, especially with one word boldly standing out from the group – like in the photograph below “Cuisine”.

They had a wall filled with these blocks of wood in the same sort of style as the typography display. So in a way they stayed in tune with a theme, yet really changed from a modern monochrome with a touch of red to earthy tones along one wall. I haven’t made my mind up yet if I like or dislike this, but I guess that means it’s intrigued me!

And once again we have the naked light bulbs that all trending places seem to own. I can not say I hate the fashion, though I do wish I would see more variety.. This little restaurant did have some odd bits that I haven’t seen around as much. For example the charming cartoon figure to let you know where the toilets are.

If you’d like to check it out, and are craving a delicious bagel then head on over to 146,  Avenue Louis, 1000 Brussels, Belgium
